With modern science it just requires such consecutive miracles at stupendous odds for even the most basics of a materialistic ungoverned universe to be reality.
So many hold onto quaint Victorian era theories that had serious doubts even in its day.
... and so may hold onto 2000+-year-old narratives that require stupendous odds to be true while believing that a creator God more complex than the creation itself just exists.
