In Germany, the share of renewable energy in total consumption was already beyond of 50% by 2023.

In the first half of 2024 the share of fossil fuels in the energy mix continued to fall to 35% (65% renewables), which is an all time low.

Even if some representatives of the "old industrial sectors" see a major energy crisis (electricity is indeed expensive in Germany because the electricity infrastructure has been neglected in recent years) and are crying for cheap gas from Russia or nuclear power - we can do without it.
