of course it doesn’t work right now with what’s installed in SA. You have to build it out properly! A vastly larger storage capability is required, obviously. We have to skate to where the puck will be, not where it is right now.
It’s far easier and cheaper to build vasts amounts of storage than it is to build nuclear baseload.
you do make a good point on using gas as a transitionary capability for the next 15 years until such storage systems are built out. It can be fired up easily, quickly and relatively cheaply.
I also fully agree on the requirement for reliable industrial baseload power. I just wish there was a little less ideological bias (to nuclear) and acceptance of basic facts rather than politicised arguments.
