I think that is a realistic possibility. We've learned from the Bonza and Rex experience that pushing pure jets around requires very deep pockets.
I landed at KL International earlier this year and noticed a number of older Air Asia aircraft being salvaged for parts. The same can be seen at Suvarnabhumi International in Bangkok with Thai Airways' older planes sitting around missing engines or landing gear components, or other odds and ends.
