Hi ProC
The problem I see with the single use alkaline batteries is people like you and me. All the collection points are dependent on the public to store spent batteries and then take them to collection bins. This will be happily done by a minority of the public and most will continue to throw out their flat alkaline batteries into the bin like they’ve always done. It will require government and business advertisement to educate the public and possibly an incentive like the 10c plastic bottle return scheme to change people’s ways.
Also we are using less and less single use batteries today as more electronics are developed with built in lithium rechargeable batteries.
I really like the idea of recycling alkaline batteries but think from a profitable business perspective it will be complicated. I hope I’m wrong.
