Yes, but if a takeover goes through in 11 months from now they won't get the CGT discount. But if they'd continued to hold the options then they probably would get the discount.
Why not simply use the $15k buying more shares instead, and keep the options.
There seems to be an illogical aversion for many here when it comes to holding options.
