I forwarded Bravo's letter to my brother. He is spreading the word as well with this extra insight.
I am writing this email in support of the PEP11 project and to give my opinion about our political parties and their own self interest being far more important than the interests of our nation.
I have also attached a letter which reflects my feelings on this matter.
I work at Orica, Kooragang Island, a gas dependant industry with little hope of surviving the upcoming gas shortages. As with most Australian industries costs are rising and the likelihood of sourcing overseas produced ammonia is looking more certain. This would be another small disaster woven into this country’s recent history of industrial demise. Every time we close another industry we lose independence, jobs and skills this nation needs to remain independent. We import alternatives with much worse environmental impact than our own production would impart.
And with the cost of living crisis, the PEP11 project has never been more vital to this state and nation.
So when did political careers become far more important than the nation that feeds them? The job of a politician is not to feather their own nest but look after the needs of their state and nation!
That means when a few uninformed people protest about irrelevant aspects of a project that has so many positive returns for them, our politicians need to stand up and do their job. Get the job they are paid to do, done!
We will not ween ourselves of gas in a few short years as some think. We need it to transition. I love all the green initiatives going on but we need to get there without cutting our own throat.
These protesters do need to hear the truth, so it is up to our pollies to pass on the facts.
