If you look how all the Australian (at least) gold stocks are being shorted by American state retirement funds and certain ETFs all controlled by Israeli dual nationals you can see there is an economic war going on here. Israel and the USA are not Australia's friends. Odds are AMI is also being hit by hidden or possibly even naked shorting.
