Monarchs and religions have longer thought times than 4 year election cycles so i think have longer term views of the consequences of actions Its believed the boomers who were the original hippy movement funnily enough are the generation that seems to have kicked all this off, they were knows as generation me for a reason. Shows like Seinfeld are a great representation of how selfish we have become, the show is all about selfishness, clever show. It the success of capitalism though which has created industry that has made it easier for women to join in the workforce, look at any poor country and its mainly males who do most work outside home. The whole system is a mess, capitalism should have created more spare time to spend with friends and family, but the opposite has happened and the only real outcome is we have more European cars and bigger houses whilst we put our kids in institutions with our elderly cause we are too busy to look after them as we have bigger and bigger houses to pay for. Supposedly this is quite different in the Nordic countries, so we have to have a change of consciousness to get a society thats not so individualistic but where is that going to actually come from?

totally in agreement. The issue is not capitalism per se but the extension of that to removing government and social programs in a wild dog eat dog society. Well flight exaggeration but you know get I mean. In my view a functioning society allows wealth to build but tried to reduce the amount of usury. I have views on some of the ways we’ve gone soft at the expense of sense and community that don’t really need repeating here but summarise by saying that humans survive well when communal needs are taken care of but also not to the point of anarchy.
