The 1948 deal was the final deal for the remaining land area of the Ottoman Empire (which included Turkey, Syria, Yemen etc) called Palestine. Only a few years before Israels creation Jordan was created for the mostly Muslim Arabs and before that Lebanon for the Christians and Druze.
So these newly created Muslim and Christian Arab countries, which had already done their own land grab, didn't like the creation of a Jewish State on a large area of desert and mosquito infested land that the Jews had been purchasing from Arab land lords
