You need to look at the total common shares outstanding over time.
The company does buybacks to compensate for ... Well employee stock and options compensation.
If all options given were realised we would have 1B shares.
We have 876M shares which is about the same since June 2020 (863M)
Management is doing buybacks to avoid dilution when paying employees in a more tax advantageous way and giving them more incentives to work harder (company appreciation).
