Yes the NBN is giong ahead, but not in the total overall proposal. This is being run like a pilot of sorts...
The ACCC are to announce a key ruling on 30 November. Key commercial outcomes cannot be negotiated or decided by NBN Co. until this decision is handed down. This is why the report cannot be released until December.
It begs belief that there are people still arguing about this based on left and right ideology.
This is a good thing for the country. There are times in government (and business for that matter) where you need to make a decision that cannot be based on tangible sound business outcomes, but it is the right thing to do for the future.
Go to other key major developed countries in the world and get on the net. It is far quicker and easier. A mate of mine from London who just arrived still does not have broadband connected in his home after 3 weeks of trying and he lives in Newcastle....the cause of the delay is "lack of infrastructure"...!!
We would never have built many things in this country (or the world) if we were looking for a positive business case based on tangible evidence for everything...
