For those wondering if anyone actually would be paid to post on Hot Copper, check out the AFR article that was copied into a HC post in November 2022.

"In this vein, ASX-listed “wellness” penny stock Wellfully was suspended by the exchange on Tuesday until it meets the requirement to have sufficient directors on its board.Coincidentally, the suspension was granted a day after we explored the company’s inexplicable issuing of shares and options to an entity called Dyamond Trading and Consulting, ostensibly for “investor relation services, including social and business media”. Also known as lurking and posting on gruesome online forum HotCopper."

In this case, it was a company paying someone to "promote" the company on HC. I don't know if there is anything wrong with that if the posts were factual rather than opinions or blatant pumping. However it should act as a clear example that some people do post on Hot Copper for payment. That could be to pump the stock up or down.

Those asking why a non-holder would post so much, so regularly with such a negative bias on a stock they don't even own have a very valid question. That poster thinks its laughable to suggest someone could be paid to post. The AFR article reports otherwise.

It pays to treat all posts with skepticism. It's often very useful to see what others are posting and not hard to fact check, especially when references are given. Posted opinions are probably best ignored and readers should only be interested in their own opinions.
