I'm prepared to give Tom Culver a decent chance to prove himself. I am satisfied that Nick England and others know enough about him to have made the selection on the basis of a best fit for growing the company. He was obviously head-hunted. His CV and experience look pretty good to me. As founder and CEO of Oko naturally he would want to stay connected to his company that is still in its early days (less than 4 years) but his skill set may prove very valuable cross-fertilisation for PharmX. Time will tell but like all CEOs they will have to perform or they are soon moved on.
