I think that’s a poor understanding of hunter gatherers. Why do you think we stopped being hunter gatherers. Philosophers have forever debated the nature of man and the debate continues because humans have the capacity for good and evil, for collaboration and for competition, for greed and for generosity, for kindness and for meanness. I’d suggest those capacities have been with us forever. Including during hunter gatherer phases of human existence

humans have a choice of who they want to be. There is clear research evidence that humans cycle (spiral) through different value systems. It is these that drive behaviour. We just happen to be in a particularly ugly phase right now. This too will pass.
