    BEVs or bust!

    If you have to plug it in to use it, it's a modified BEV.
    And you gotta plug in a car that gets 62% of its propulsion from its electric motors or you're an idiot.

    The points of my "BEVs or BUST" were mainly these two, to keep it simple:
    (1) I was drawing a distinction; erstwhile First Captain ausheds ruined this board with a endlessly uncivil and spam-scam defense of mild hybrids as the "Holy Grail of Lynas" (his words, yet his beloved mild fake hybrids get just 5-10% of their power from an upgraded non-REE launch-assist starter motor);
    (2) The transition to plug-in hybrids and BEVs (like the BYD Seal, Song Plus or Qin Plus and BYD BEVs Seagull and Yuan Plus) would be the only demand driver needed to support a massive meaningful and profitable mine OUTSIDE China.

    My view has been slightly modified as I have seen the amazing impact that LaCeNdPr-DyTb-FeB or "Neo" or "rare earth" magnets have made. Drones. Industrial robotics. Cheap wind power. Small/last mile transpo, e-bikes, e-cycles, e-scooters, e-rickshaws; the demand is far higher than anyone expected. These are consuming vast amounts of magnets; more than EVs.

    Still, imho it remains pretty much "BEVs or BUST", in other words you only need to watch their sales to follow Lynas's fate, but the reality now is neodymium and other magnet metals are going exponential in a multidimensional market.
