"Accept the directors sold". Do you mean "except" the director sold? Except or accept? I know they sound similar, but there are two different meanings.
Everyone accepts that the director sold because he told us that he did.
Except the director sold, well yes, no doubt that is a thing and I wish he hasn't have, but there you go, that's life.
I think that you need to accept that your communication skills can be improved. Here's a suggestion. Pause before you hit Send, not Scent.
