US imports of silicomanganese increaseON AUGUST 9, 2024BY ALANPATRICKRYAN US imports of silicomanganese were 189,853 mt in the first half of 2024 and 55,202.2 mt in June 2024.The leading suppliers in the first six months of 2024 (June 2024 in parentheses) were: South Africa, 42,768.2 mt (18,112.2 mt); Australia, 37,833 mt (22,015 mt); Malaysia, 37,061.3 mt (8,649.8 mt); Norway, 15,953.3 mt (3,211.7 mt);and Mexico, 13,425.5 mt (3,045.5 mt). The US imported 141,938.6 mt of silicomanganese in the first half of 2023 and 17,172.5 mt in June 2023.The leading suppliers in the first half of 2023 (June in parentheses) were: South Africa, 51,980.4 mt (0); Australia, 31,124.3 mt (7,814 mt); Mexico, 23,706.9 mt (4,216 mt); Norway, 11,453.8 mt (1,652.6 mt); Georgia, 10,046.8 mt (0); and Malaysia, 9,620.3 mt (1,200.3 mt). The US imported 204,034.6 mt of silicomanganese in the first half of 2022 and 23,519.5 mt in June 2022.

huge increase for Malaysia since H2 2023 are there other silicomanganese producers besides OMH? If not this could mean improved margins.
