I think it's basic marketing ... people stick with a brand they can relate to. If that means poor taste or exquisite choice, it doesn't matter to the purchase and the bill of goods.

It's not like Americans, by and large, have a world view and a broad education to compare the pair. Just the simple fact they don't get the vacation time nor the means to explore new frontiers is reason enough for their insularity and parisan attitudes.
