I read his comments about participating versus winning and think it is a major gaffe that will haunt him, especially 6 months out from an election.

That's all good and well, but absolutely not true if you're older than a primary school kid let alone the PM.
Although I will admit I'm yet see video footage of this statement as I don't believe he could pronounce "participating" without blowing snot bubbles and dribbling down the front of his shirt.
