Aug 12 (Reuters) - Australian gold miner Evolution Mining (EVN) on Monday flagged a cyber security incident saying that it had become aware of a ransomware attack last week, which impacted its IT systems.
The firm has since been working with its external cyber forensic experts to investigate the matter.
"Based on work to date, the company believes the incident is now contained," Evolution said in a statement after market hours, adding that it had reported the matter to the Australian Cyber Security Centre.
It added that the incident is not expected to have any material impact on operations.
The Australian Cyber Security Centre did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
