My thoughts on this...

I think it's crucial we keep our relationships with our long standing partners in tact. These have been developed and nurtured over two decades.

Mate, the proposed partnership with China is going to require US$100 billion to potentially replace 200mt of iron ore imports with 100mt of green iron imports.

As I've previously mentioned, for a project of this size to succeed all parties need to be on the same page, all resources from both parties are set in place, the infrastucture, financing/investors etc all ticked off...then and only then can something this massive truly materialise.

Furthermore, China invested almost US$1 trillion last year on renewables which went into 350 gigawatts of solar and wind capacity in their country. China see that being repeated over the next 20 years to meet their ambitious net zero targets which align perfectly with Fortescue's goals. There's your leverage and market mate!
