@Scott th Ratbag; I've abandoned watching what Ita Buttrose still masquerades as ABC News in the morning and instead watch actual news reports from France, India, the UK and the USA.

This morning France24 reported that in the last twelve months the French have installed one hundred and eighty thousand swimming pools in anticipation of increasing maximum daily temperatures reaching critical levels.

This was reported to be especially the case in SW France wherein current daily max temps are ~40'C [at a time of year equivalent to Victoria in mid February].

Whereas Victorians have lived experiences of such conditions, much of the World does not even as they witness the latest fires bearing down on Athens.
