@LaraCroftFan - I completely agree. But whilst the SA doesn't have the Pilbara, it possibly does have more than enough magnetite which the Pilbara may not.
Whilst the Climate Energy Finance report seems to think that the POSCO $27B investment to make 12Mtpa (staged) of HBI in the Pilbara (noted in key findings and in report) is a great example of value adding, it doesn't mention that project is for magnetite ore, not the usual Pilbara Hematite ores.
Therefore, without a clear solution of how to value add Pilbara Hematite ore into green iron (or similar), why should our government contribute to funding a massive renewable network across the hematite mines when their future is uncertain in a green steel world?
