"Why is NATIONS not used in place of gentiles/heathen/greek ?"

The same reason there are many Greek corruptions like, changing Yehowah's name in the OT to Lord in the NT.
    -----------
Paul -> I nations apostle (that's all the Inter shows).

Matt 28:29 - Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations,

Jesus to the eleven -> Mark 16:15 - And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. (nations)

Acts 1:8 - But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria ,and to the end of the earth.

NOW ->> The Gospel of Zusc continues ->
Soon after the Son goes home to Daddy and Daddy goes, LOOK Son, I gave you all authority and Now you have let it go to your head.
So get you backside back down there and get ahold of this Paul guy, and fix up your HUGE mistake that You created there -> go get tongue.png as you had not authority (apparently) to tell the ones that I gave you, to spread the Goodnews (FLESH) to all the Nations.

John 1:14 And the Word Goodnews became and dwelt in us and we beheld the glory (Goodnews) of it, glory (Goodnews) as only begotten by the side of the Father, full of grace and truth. (By the side - John 17:22).

The flesh/goodnews -> For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

His name to represent this Goodnews -> The Word of God, because he is a Word of God and became the Key representative of it and carrier of, also known as the word of life.

Hebrew -> Flesh = Flesh of your body and Goodness -> same word, same spelling for the two meanings, just sounded out differently.
