@KSD being an uncorrugated optimist, did postulate:
management would no doubt be timing this IPO at optimal timing of recent company progress, trial progression, FDA milestones and so forth to ensure the maximum valuation

If management were acting in the best interest of existing shareholders, that scenario would hold true.
If management were acting in the best interests of "the Product" (and by coincidence, in their own interest) then they wouldn't give a rats as to the value achieved for existing holders.

And somehow I doubt if retail holders have much leverage when it comes to a vote in a special shareholders' meeting.
