"A metal detectorist has unearthed "the find of a lifetime" hidden under a rotting log and three feet of dirt.
Luke Phillips, who runs the popular YouTube channel Dig It Detecting, was out hunting for gold in the Ballarat bush in May when he came across an old miner's hole dating back more than 150 years to the heady days of the Victorian gold rush.
"The miner had dug a hole probably only about four or five feet deep, looking for gold, and he'd thrown out his dirt next to it," Phillips told 9news.com.au."
