End-of-day summary:

The share market rose rose for the sixth time in seven sessions as corporate earnings mostly defied modest expectations for the current reporting season.

The ASX 200 rallied 24 points or 0.31% to 7851. Strike Energy topped the gainers with a rise of 8.82%. Next best were Pro Medicus, Evolution Mining and Seven Group, gaining between 6.56% and 7,15% following well-received trading updates.

Also reporting today were CBA +1.28%, Orora +5.29%, Amotiv +4.13%, AGL +2.31% and HomeCo Daily Needs +1.21%.

Wall Street laid the foundations for today's advance with strong overnight gains after cooling wholesale inflation data appeared to remove an obstacle to rate cuts. The S&P 500 firmed 1.68%.
