like jihad: its taken by some as to mean a war with others, by most Muslims its the battle between good and evil within the individual. its the struggle to overcome our primitive tribalism to embrace others as equals and dump the absurd hatred.
just like in other religious texts theres fables, interpretations of historical events, parables, lessons to be learned. but most of all religions preach unity against other 'gods', the binding together of the community against the barbarian.
