Just to answer your very valid opening post.
My experience tells me that there is a minority of any race who are simply born losers. They end up running out of friends at home or often need to run away from something. The classic example is highlighted above. Well done P you nailed it.
Two trips in particular, abroad, highlighted this to me, one was to the states for a month where I got to meet many great people. I had worked with many here in oz and wondered why they often had a chip on their shoulder. In their home country I couldn't believe how different they were, including those down south who seem to get a raw deal from most of their countrymen.
The other trip was three months in Europe where the poms were great people there but often pricks and wingers here in oz. Interesting.
I have worked with lots of races in various industries and found Irish, Manxmen, Greeks, Portuguese, Poles Spaniards, Italians, Swiss, Swedes, Norwegians, Argentinians, Latinos in general Japanese, and many others, all great at home as well as abroad.
Asians all varieties, indians are a different kettle of fish. We wont mention the races who have been bread to fight for generations.

My take on it is that those who cant make it in the best countries on the planet hold a grudge forever. ie will never be happy because it is all down from wherever they come from. while those who get a raw deal at home are grateful to be somewhere else.

Darwin was an interesting case study in the 1980s. The place was loaded with those running away or hiding from something or someone but everyone seemed to be happy. 54 races from memory and It was the most homogenized place I have lived where it all "just worked".
In general the bigger the shitties the worse it gets.
