    Hi @Johnny1982,

    re your post " He voted against a bill to enhance stem cell therapy, but will now undertake it", I'm sorry but unfortunately you've just inadvertently provided an example of the very thing I just wrote about in the post to which you're responding - i.e. resulting political polarisation of views that ignores the facts.

    Scalise treatment is/ was an autologous stem cell transplant i.e. his own adult hematopoietic stem cells.

    Scalise has NOT taken any notable votes against stem cell research—embryonic or non-embryonic. Refer this link: https://www.yahoo.com/news/no-rep-steve-scalise-didn-205957662.html

    Here's an extract from the fact check article (underlining/ bolding added by me for emphasis):

    'Two notable bills intended to advance embryonic stem cell research, i.e. the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2005 and Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2007, passed both the House and Senate, but both were vetoed by then President George W. Bush. These votes occurred prior to Scalise assuming office in May 2008.

    Very little legislative activity involving embryonic stem cell research has happened since.In September 2020. Scalise co-signed a letter by Mississippi Sen. Roger Wicker calling for an end to taxpayer funded embryonic stem cell research at the National Institutes of Health, but the letter expressed no opposition to non-embryonic stem cell research or treatment.

    In fact, Scalise voted in favor of:

    - the Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Reauthorization Act of 2010;

    - the Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Reauthorization Act of 2015, AND

    - the TRANSPLANT Act of 2021,

    all of which reauthorized a program intended to support patients in need of stem cell transplants.'

    That program established a nationwide integrated bone marrow and cord blood stem cell transplantation program - using adult stem cells. You can read about it here: https://chrissmith.house.gov/lawsandresolutions/cordblood.htm

    The TRANSPLANT Act is actually wordily titled the Timely ReAuthorization of Necessary Stem-cell Programs Lends Access to Needed Therapies Act of 2021. Phew - what a mouthful.

    Anyway, IMO the Scalise guy deserves our support on his stem cell research voting record.

    This is how wars start. Lets all dig deeper folks.

    Cheers all
