Among other things, it also deals with the economic viability of the mine in Wolfsberg

One distinguishes between Tier-1 to Tier-3 deposits. "Tier-1 deposits are those where lithium can be extracted in large quantities, over a long period, and at low cost. Such mines remain economical even with a low lithium price of 5,000 euros per ton.
The Rio Tinto mine in Serbia is an example of a Tier-1 deposit. For Tier-2 deposits, the lithium price should ideally not fall below 25,000 euros per ton for the company to remain profitable, while Tier-3 deposits only become profitable at a lithium price of 50,000 to 60,000 euros per ton. Currently, the price for a ton of lithium carbonate is around 15,000 euros. The price plummeted by 80 percent last year due to oversupply. "The lithium deposit under the Koralpe is a Tier-2 to Tier-3 deposit," says Tost. This is one of the reasons why it is so difficult to find investors for the project.
