I agree they are ripe for the picking. Along with the bigger boys like Origin and AGL there may be some other potential buyers.
For example - I think Energy Developments (ENE) may be a contender. It recently sold its 50% interest in the Gastec French landfill gas (LFG) joint venture to its joint venture partner for 26.5 million and executed a growth focused debt facility with its major shareholder, Greenspark Power Holdings Ltd (who own 80% of the company and control the board)
This asset sale and $45 million one year debt facility are part of ENE's strategy to rebalance the company's global asset portfolio. ENE's current assets are pretty boring - low growth, low return. They may choose to redeploy capital to attractive, higher growth, long term assets such as IFN.
