It seems the issue re McPhillamys was the tailings/ residues location had to be sited close to the nearby river. There was no other option for it. Perceived, unfounded concerns re river pollution was the factor that swayed Plibasek ( not withstanding umpteen Environmental studies that had been undertaken over the years and all seemed okay). However, in our case, we dont appear to have a nearby comparavle river system, The area is mostly cleared land. Spur was historically mined ( near surface workings) by old timers , and there has been a lot of shallow drilling by previous exploration companies, so ground disturbance issues will not be an issue either. should a greenie raise some spurious issue in that regard
