    Its a bit of a mute argument, they will make whatever grade makes most economic sense, most plants are built targeting 6% con in WA, economics favour lower grade which is acceptable to offtakers so why not maximise li unit yield and lower cost / improve margins...

    Just because your plant can make 6-6.5% it doesn't mean you will. If they can lift your process recoveries by lowering final product grade and in turn lower your cost per li unit then that is what they should do.

    Sure it goes against the fanfare of we're going to produce the greenest, cleanest, highest grade, but at the end of the day $$ is what matters.
