Just to tell the full story, the deletion was announced on August 12th and will take effect on August 30th. STX has been deleted from the MSCI Global Small Cap Index, but at the same time it will also be added to the MSCI Global Micro Cap Index.
It's also important to add: in Global Small Cap Index - STX was a market-cap light weight stock, while its different in MSCI Global Micro Cap Index
I'm not sure if that ultimately helps shorters to close their short positions... but, let's see
