My concern about the use of funds—this has also been made public—is that it does still appear to be ring-fenced for marine infrastructure thus prioritising gas. The public position that we have, which is articulated in our submission to this committee, is that, if that flow of funds were redirected towards terrestrial infrastructure and bringing the big green-transmission corridor in, Senator, you would be serving the purposes, I think, that you've been advocating so forcefully.

Mr Wilson: Yes. Not to put too fine a point on it, there are several solar projects in the NT right now that are stranded because of that lack of transmission infrastructure.
if you could start with some of those terrestrial works, you would achieve two things: you would prioritise the projects that are more forward-facing; and I believe that you would make a big mark in terms of starting to achieve a social licence for the precinct. If you could bring those jobs in, without dredging, pulling up mangroves and hammering in with a pile driver the various infrastructure that is being touted, then I think you'd find that Darwin would really swing behind the project.

Get enough on board working towards the same outcome & it will happen - that is certainly what I took from this.
