    1. WHC's SP has now made a "reasonable" recovery to $7.125 from an intraday low of $6.96. Yesterday closing SP was $7.36.
SMR (met coal) SP now UP $3.19; & only a drop of 5c yesterday today.
YAL SP now $5.65 another big fall of 5.5% today (yesterday's huge fall of c.15%!).

Met coal price today US 202p/t (up $3 today, but in a downward trend); thermal NEWC 6000 kcal US $146 (down 0.61%; but up 8.6% for the month, so an upward trend).

These % changes, IMO, suggest that the big fall in WHC's SP today (& YAL's continuing big SP fall) is due to "contagion".
The market hated YAL's announcement yesterday that there would be NO forthcoming dividend- & many feared (without justification, IMO) that WHC also might also announce no forthcoming dividend (even though previously WHC announced that it would continue to pay dividends, but from its thermal coal profits only).

I am, therefore, reasonably confident that this WHC SP fall has at least stabilised, for the immediate future ( assuming no imminent production or profit shocks from tomorrow's Announcement).

    2. bbc.com 19.8.24 K. Peachey said

"[UK] Domestic energy prices are expected to rise in the run-up (ie September- November. My words) to winter, according to consultancy Cornwall Insight.

The forecaster, which is widely regarded for its accurate predictions...,

Cornwall Insight said prices paid by households, although protected to some degree by the price cap, were affected by volatility in the fragile global energy market...

Cornwall Insight also said it expected costs to rise again during the winter (ie December. My word) when the January price cap is announced.

It said a "modest" rise was anticipated. However, recent tensions in the Russia-Ukraine war could see prices rise further, it added".

Energy price cap expected to rise by 9% in October (bbc.com)

Cornwall Insight is "widely regarded for its accurate predictions"- thus one can reasonably assume there is a good chance that thermal coal prices will continue their upward price trend until c. December 2025. This bodes well for WHC.
