Watch the top sell bid. It will just keep increasing as buys nibble at it. A BOT will be topping it up as required to stop it being wiped. Us mere mortals have no idea how many shares the BOT has to play with. It could be more than all the sells displayed. Hence why the actual number mortals can see is not really a guide.
Watch also the buys just before the closing auction. Often large numbers will vanish - they were just there to obfuscate the real picture. For the benefits of mere mortals and rival BOTS.
And remember all these changes can be made in the fraction of a second - unlike the buy or sell process you probably go through.
