In my opinion, the projected EV industry uptake of Graphite, while potentially a significant driver of Graphite shortages in the coming years/decades is not the catalyst for the shortages. China has made it abundantly clear that the Graphite it is producing will be prioritised internally. Graphite is a major component in military equipment (among many other things not EV related that China also produces), if you haven't noticed, China seem to be pretty serious about their military.
Either way, the US not adopting EVs is of little concern, again, where does all of the Graphite come from? China. All that matters in this specific argument is that China adopts EVs. Adding to their desire to retain their Graphite reserves for that industry internally, leaving nothing for everyone else, thus making RNU the only viable alternative for the foreseeable future.
Until China relaxes its export bans/restrictions on its Graphite, your fretting is unwarranted in my opinion.
