It’s important to draw the line between investing in high quality companies vs investing in sharemarket darlings. How many times have we seen all sorts of sharemarket darlings temporarily riding the crests only to crash suddenly and permanently. Lots of HC comments and regrets expressed for investing in these one trick ponies.

Where there’s adequate detailled DD done and conviction in ARL (incl. management quality), over the last 3 years there’s not much difference in buying all the way up the sp trend and buying all the way down the sp trend.

In the former, a capital investment outlay by LT shs gets more shares initially than from later buys. In the latter, it’s the other way round.

The exception was during the early years when the so was mere cents. To these very LT shs, congrats!

To later comers, Mick’s strategy of regular rereading the formal reports, announcements and presses is a very good idea.

Compare this idea to the alternative of regular rereading the FUD spewed by trolls and naysayers and falling for their mischievous speculative/unsubstantiated content. Why would any LT sh let themselves be emotionally manipulated so easily?

There’s much to be said for LT shs who stand firm in their convictions amidst market turmoil and eventually prove themselves right. This difficult process builds strong character, emotional strength and intellectual courage. Money cannot buy these qualities.

Contrast these traditional qualities to that displayed by the naysayers who spend so much time doing what they do even though they are non-holders. Imagine what it’s like living in the same household with such characters.
