An African Wildcat Safari in the last untested onshore rift basin discovers the multi-TCFcondensate Mukuyu Field, Cabora Bassa Basin, Zimbabwe

ABSTRACT
We will cover the journey to discovery of the Mukuyu field,
a basin opening multi-TCF gas-condensate discovery made
by the first rank wildcat well ever drilled in the last untested
onshore rift basin in Africa.
The Cabora Bassa Basin located in northern Zimbabwe has
been hidden away from explorers for decades due to the
above ground challenges and perception rather than below
ground potential.
Armed with no more than a dream and a 25-year-old legacy
dataset left behind by a previous operator, a junior startup
explorer set out on a wildcat safari with the aim of delivering
an oil or gas discovery and relieving energy poverty in the
country.
The journey has been full of challenges and triumphs along
the way and we will share the insights and lessons learned
during the exploration of a truly frontier basin
