Dallas Texas, Perth Basin, same same but different. No overland pipeline. No functioning import terminal. The heart of the issue is not solving the transport infrastructure issue, it's the landing price of imported gas. If you can't deliver gas at or below $12/Gj, the market for your product closes shop and moves it's business elsewhere.
For a real life case study, refer to Perdeman Urea plant. Original plan - locate plant in NSW. Issue - can't get a competitive GSA. Solution - change location to Burrup WA. Consequence 1 - loss of jobs/revenue in NSW. Consequence 2 - loss of jobs/revenue in Qld due to ICT choosing to buy Urea off Perdeman, instead of maunufacturing it, closed their Gibson Island plant. This is the reality facing the people who work at places like Kooragang island Newcastle.
