Doesnt' work like that either as the brokers have already short sold the borrowed stock to someone else on market so its merely a change of cash to the index fund this friday.
Yesterday they even upped the short anti with 5.7million new shorts. If their VWAP is like 19c they are hoping to push it lower than this and they'll make a profit off the Index funds sell
