Africa Oil set to boost exposure to huge Venus discovery in Namibia

"This Impact deal involves Africa Oil signing an agreement with three shareholders that control 7% of Impact’s shares, and comes just days after Africa Oil acquired some 25.6 million shares from 42 other Impact investors for $18.6 million. Commenting on the move, Africa Oil's chief executive Roger Tucker said: “Through our shareholding in Impact we have exposure to an exciting opportunity set in Namibia’s Orange basin, including the Venus oil discovery and a highly prospective exploration and appraisal program on blocks 2913B and 2912.“ This purchase achieves the company’s objective of materially increasing its ownership in Impact (and) enhancing its rights and influence over a core strategic asset and value driver for Africa Oil.”

TotalEnergies and QatarEnergy wrap up Orange basin deal

"TotalEnergies and QatarEnergy have completed a significant deal that will see them take control of a major exploration block in South Africa's sector of the Orange basin. Both deals have now been closed and see TotalEnergies take a 33% operating stake in 3B/4B, with QatarEnergy on 24%. Africa Oil chief executive Roger Tucker said the deal makes sense because TotalEnergies and QatarEnergy have “deep geological knowledge of the basin”, having already drilled multiple successful exploration and appraisal wells in their acreage in Namibia which holds the Venus discovery."
