Okay, why don't we take a look at the 'independents' in the House of Reps.
For starters, they have been entirely superfluous in the current election cycle. The Government have an outright majority, so they haven't needed to talk to the independents for anything. Ever. How do you think that sits with the electorates that voted them in? To give your vote to somebody who takes the taxpayer dollar and keeps the seat warm.
Further, as 'independents' they have no supprt at all in the Upper House. The Opposition at least get to direct opposition to Government policy, the independents have to take it in turns.
Further, what do you call independent Scott? Do you think the Teals are independent? Do you think the Teals are independent of each other? Do you think that if one of the Teals decided to break with their 'hive'mind' positions that they would still be allowed to call themselves a Teal? Do you think that they would still be financed by the same people that financed the Teals? Again, do you think the Teals are independent?
