OK, I'd imagine there is a fair bit of blind hope that goes along with most companies in this position.
But to defend BL here, i'm saying that his job objectives are in progress and he hasn't had an opportunity to succeed or fail. As discussions are confidential, we don't know how he is performing.
But are you saying he is currently failing in his role? If so, based on what? What of his job objectives is he currently not performing well in?
To me, he has not succeeded yet, but also not failed. What he has done is put a significant amount of his own money into the company, which I see as a positive
