Shorts aren't winning massively. Look at the volume of transactions. They only earn some cents (at most) at each share.
Shorts are only working daily to get their daily wage/earnings. At the end of the year they earn more than simple workers but on a daily basis they are just adding some dollars to their baskets. Maybe thousands, but not millions.
