The issue is that STX had a massive downgrade whilst these index funds were holding so exacerbated the issue. Could also argue these index funds did prop up the share price whilst STX was entering the index so was probably artificial demand as well going into the index.
Its no chip off their shoulder to exactly which stock perform and do not perform as their returns are merely a replica of the index and they will hold 200 stock etc
