I love the lord of the rings, I have read the Silmarrilion, the book of lost tales and anything else I can get my hands on. The world and history Tolkien created is so rich with ideas, stories etc etc.
I keep watching ROP hoping it will turn but to no avail, its just bloody awful. My greatest disappointments are:
1. The portrayal of Numenor - made out to be almost a back water. In the books they are meant to be tall and powerful, wise and advanced in knowledge, instead we get these weaklings.
2. The 'poor' orcs they just want a land of their own and peace, total garbage, they are pure evil. And being led by an Elf??
3. The elves, Galadriel was never a warrior, GilGalad is some nasty pathetic type with a mullet. Elves are meant to be almost angelic, what happened to Elrond?
4. The dwarfs, once again turned into a comedy act, not the serious, tough bastards they are meant to be.
5. Men - pathetic and have to be led by women.
6. The Harfoots WTF?
7. The focus on relationships, at the point now where I just fast forward.
Amazon spent huge money on this and its totally pathetic. Not having the rights to the Silmarrilion and books of lost tales left them with no material to work with.
